Tomato Pie Questions...

My quilting friend, Deb asked if I had ever used drained canned tomatoes in making my tomato pie (especially when the tomatoes don't look so hot in the stores) - and I have to confess that I have never tried...I am thinking that even though they would be drained that the baking would bring out more of the moisture in the canned tomatoes and it would get soggy...(which in my opinion would be Gross!!!)

hmm, I bet it would be icky too. WHen I use canned "maters" I only put them in soups when I am out of fresh and in need. They also wouldn't have the same taste I wouldn't think, cooked fresh are sweet and canned can be bitter. Just my .02 :) I still say I had the best solution, instead of US cooking it, YOU cook it and we'll come over to YOUR place for dinner:)
