A Year of Simple Things...Week 12

Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches! These are for sure out of my past! When I was in high school, my mother and grandmother would give me 50 cents a day for lunch (hey, it was 45 years ago - when I was in the 10th grade!).

I soon learned that for 15 cents peanut butter, banana and bread were available for a lunch sandwich...which left me with 35 cents each day to enjoy a soda and chips on the walk home with friends...

Such a simple life back then...

Boxes...

My buddy, Ann asked where was the photo of me all stretched out and calm...Maybe this will explain why there isn't one yet...

Am spending this Memorial Day Week-end trying to get unpacked and organized...

All is calm...

They say that animals know when things or people are okay...good...safe... Well, I guess my new apartment is pretty much a safe haven...otherwise do you think Killian would be doing this????

Out like a light - passed out on his mommy's bed! Sweet dreams, baby!!!!

New Home...Inside...

The tour begins in the kitchen. My kitchen has a very open plan which I truly love. The walls in the entire apartment are a really pretty cream color, freshly painted (and not the standard white that seems to be in most apartment buildings). As you can see my cabinets are black with white knobs and I am using an accent color of red. Bought a thick red rug to go in front of the stove and sink so that my feet don't hurt while cooking or washing dishes. (Yea, no dishwasher - but that's okay)


Looking into the kitchen from the living room. To the left is the front door and to the right is the hall that leads to the bathroom, storage closet, and our bedrooms.

The bathroom is tiled in sage green and I really like it. Very calming color. Have one of those cool heat lights that you sometimes find in hotels in the bathroom for those cold winter mornings!
Didn't take photos of the bedrooms yet - not until they are decorated and set up properly. I mean what's to see except an empty square and an empty rectangle...with closet doors. So, that's it!

View across the road...

This is the view of the golf course that can be seen from Mother's window...and from the side of the building. It is just awesome to have so much green space surrounding us...Plus unless the land gets sold - you know that it is going to stay that way. It is lovely to look at in all seasons - and is especially beautiful in winter.

This Week-End...

Another NH S&W and guess who isn't going to be there...darn! Seems like every year there is something that keeps me from getting there!!!! But, this year it is my move and to be honest - I want to get my new home organized so that by next week I feel like it is a home and not a storage place for boxes.

Today at 1:30 I am getting the rest of my furniture moved...and then I'll be home free to unpack all my stuff. Not that I haven't been unpacking...just that some of the furniture that holds some of the stuff isn't at the house yet...Can't wait...

Partially Moved...

Am partially moved - rest of furniture goes tomorrow - I hope!!! No internet, phone, or cable until next Wednesday - May 16...Please bear with me...and think of me often...I'll get all caught up when I get my computer up and running next week...Miss all of you...

Fabric and Books...

I have way too much of each - as is being discovered during this packing stage! Yesterday was spent cleaning my cupboards and putting in shelf liner at the new apartment and packing at the house. It is coming along! We move Saturday morning and I am feeling the pressure!!!

I was wondering:

Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant like making a peeing section in a swimming pool?

Back to packing!!!!!
