Latest Goodies...

Found another blog that I am liking very much...It is Jonquils and Ladybugs. Stephanie is a sweet young woman and mother to Jackson - who is just so cute!!! She recently had a giveaway on her blog - a purse - and guess who won!

It is so cute - and being a great lover of black and white - you know I love it. Thanks a bunch, Stephanie.
During the last Fab Shop Hop - I won a gift certificate to The Fat Quarter Shop. I had no idea what to buy - but, then I saw a Jolly Pack - Inspiration III which contains 32 5" squares in turquoise. Then - a package of Fairy Frost fabrics by Michael Miller Fabrics just kept popping up - so, I just had to get 50 5" squares of that...Such fun they are going to be!!!

And, finally - after 4-1/2 years I got a new cell phone! My old cell phone had an antenna that you pull out and was scratched beyond belief...so, when the plan was upgraded I was allowed a new phone which I didn't get - then today...I found this one...best of all - it didn't cost a dime!
So what fun things have you picked up lately????

Catching Up...

1) Today the weather seems to be not exactly what the weatherman predicted. There was supposed to be at least three inches of snow of the ground when I woke up - not there. And, even though it is snowing - it is a light snow - and I don't think we will hit the 5 to 10 inches that was expected. Am waiting to see what the weatherman says at Noon.

2) Went to see Mother on Monday - and it was such a nice day with her. I travel 45 minutes each way so the visits are not just for five minutes. Usually, I will stay a mininum of two to three hours with her.

She knew who I was! And we talked about my sister and my daughter. She asked questions about them. She even asked if the kitten (Killian) was still in the hospital. We had lunch together and then talked some more until it was time for her nap. Then I headed for home. It was a nice day!

3) Socks will be on needles tonight - did a swatch last night and am right on for the correct number of stitches! These socks will go to my friend, Colleen, as part of the bartering we did when she quilt my daughter's quilt for me...

Today...

The morning began with bill paying and dish washing...then I was off to the Fall Festival and Chili Cookoff !

Remember when I said that Pleasant Street has about two blocks of business downtown - well that was the section where the festival was. It was free - except for the Chili Cook-off. Tickets were $3.00 for kids and $5.00 for adults. This gave you a sample at each of the chili places - and there were a lot! There were at least 20-30 or more...and the samples were good size. I didn't do the chili tasting part - because there were only a couple of places that had mild chili - don't do medium or hot heat in chili...tummy can't take it.

Strolled around and checked out the vendors and groups that were having raffles. Bought two really pretty wooden cutting boards. They are 7-3/4" x 6-1/4" and 1-1/4" thick. Really pretty. And, only $2.00 each. Think the kids at the VoTech make them and they sell them for Special Olympics.

Then picked up a friend and we went to the quilt store grand re-opening. It was fun! And, got to see several demonstations - one on using the Angler Companion and the other on machine quilting. That one was super interesting!

Grabbed an early dinner and headed home...gonna read!

It's Fall...Ya'll...

Everyday on the way to see Mom I pass Otter Pond ... look at the great color! I love it - I can't decide whether I like the red leaves, gold leaves, yellow leaves...I just love them all.

N is for...

Necklace. Not just any necklace but one that I made a zillion years ago! This must have been made in the late 70s...when taking a class with my next door neighbor at a bead store in Tampa.

It is a great necklace to wear with that little black dress!

This and That...Again...

I know that time again - much going on today...and not at all organized...

1) My contest: I will be posting the contest tomorrow...Still have to upload the photos from my camera...and I'm slow...

2) I was totally impressed today when I was looking at this. Please check it out - it is a beautiful mural that was painted at a Montreal hospital - on the floor where gereatric patients live while waiting to transition either to their home or a permanent nursing home facility. It is amazing what people can do to help others enjoy their lives more!

3) In the middle of making Baked Potato Salad...and a mango bean salad...to take to the party tonight...I'll post photos of them later (if they turn out pretty!!!)

4) The second Sock is well on the way - and I am looking forward to finishing it this coming week - I hope!

5) Guess I should have picked BBQ sauce...Yesterday when I did the Friday-Fill-ins! (Thanks, Deb!!!!)

Rain...

Rain...rain...and more rain...but, at least I keep wishing that the rain will cool down the heat. Another storm is on the way...and we've already had two today - so, am going to close down the computer...no sense in risking it due to lightening...

Gonna sit down and knit...and relax...and listen to the pitter pat of the rain drops!!!!

97...

No...that's not anyone's age...it's how darn hot it is here today!!!!

Have a cold pack on my forehead...and all the fans blowing as hard as they can...and I'm still HOT!

I lived in Florida for goodness sake - I should be able to take the heat...but, I'm too much of a New Englander now...and we are not supposed to get temperatures this high...

Am packing - no not because of the heat - but because I'm going away for a few days...more tomorrow...

STAY COOL!!!!

Cars...

Cars...can't live with them and can't live without them!

Then there is the State Inspection which has to be passed...and guess who didn't pass. My car!

The check engine light has been on forever - and it wasn't really causing any problems - just some little sensor...nothing important - except that now it is part of the inspection!

And, the brakes...well, they needed to be replaced...so, today the car spent the day at the shop...and while it was there it spent the money I was thinking of using to go to Montreal for a couple of days at the end of May. So, I'll just have to delay that little trip - maybe October...

But, I guess that's what cars do...spend your money for you!!!!

And, This Would Be Tuesday...

And, those would be flurries of white snow falling outside my window! Along with the shining sun! Go figure! But, it looks like a fun day will be had...

I am feeling much better ... and have a doctor's appointment for this coming week...and there have been no more problems with my blood pressure! I am taking some blood pressure meds to help with whatever it was that caused it to go bonkers! And, actually sleeping through the night without any dreams!

Tonight I will be attending a different quilt quild. It was one that I went to the first year or so that I lived here...but as it became increasingly difficult to get out in the evenings it sort of went by the wayside. The group is a very small group....about ten people and we meet up at the local hospital. Meetings are from October through May...once a month. Going to give it another shot...and see if I want to make it a regular thing.

Am finally beginning to feel much more organized now that things are in place and my time to do things is being honored. The only thing I do not want to do is burn out because I'm running here and there. It is hard because in order for me to get time for myself I have to LEAVE MY HOME. So, I am trying to get what I call less nights/days out and Bigger chucks of time away.

The Cornish Quilt Guild which meets the 2nd and 4th Monday nights of the month is my most favorite place to be...and has been since I moved here to New Hampshire. I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun I had at our Saturday workshop...

Yoga class as I knew it will not be happening...The remainder of the classes that I have are going to be turned into one-on-one classes with a program designed especially for my body and me.

Still have not made it to the mediation class as it has been cancelled due to weather...so, not sure what is happening with that. She has also made some changes to her schedule so I may be able to change things up a bit and go two Tuesday nights a month...with the other two Tuesday nights being: Quilting and a book club thing.
