Black and White...

Ever since I began quilting, I have wanted a black and white quilt...why I have no idea. Maybe it is because I think Black and White is just classic! So, I have collected fabric to go into this quilt.

My friend, Susan, sent me this wonderful fabric yesterday. Is it not cool looking??? It will go into my new quilt. I don't want to say much about it as I want it to be a surprise when the top is finished.Check out the cool pen cover that she sent along with it. Really nice...

Susan also sent me this charming litle bear ... I know I mentioned him but don't think I put up his photo. So, there you go..

Thanks, Susan for hanging in there with me and for encouraging my quilting!

Today, I am thankful for friends who encourage me in my artistic attempts...

OOooh, I've thought about making a B&W quilt before too, but when thinking about such a project I've always imagined a scrap of color, like red or yellow, in with the blacks and whites. I'm taking a break from making a birthday exchange block with a WoW and red print to visit from Michele's.

Hi again, thanks for your return visit. I found the corn fiber yarn at a shop in Minneapolis called Depth of Field this summer. It had just come out and no one in the shop and worked it up yet. The yarn is not twisted tightly so the individual strands fray a bit if you have to pick up a dropped stitch. The yarn itself is very soft and I'm hoping the socks wear well, they should with the nylon blend. If you look again at the photo, the sock patterns are mirror images of each other, a fun little twist. Right now I'm having trouble remembering the pattern for the toe decreases and once again I'm stalled on finishing.

I so admire you all that can quilt. I just don't have the talent or capacity to sew--especially with detailed things.

I'm sure it will be really beautiful when you are finished.

Michele sent me today!

Good luck and happy quilting on the B&W quilt. I've made two in my lifetime so far. One was all black and whites with cat themes, and was a lot of fun. The other was all black and white fabrics I designed myself. It's a challenge, but if you work with contrasts, it makes sense after a while. (Ask me how I learned that tidbit!)
Is that a Boyd's Bear? It's cute.
